Today, we continued our work at the sites where we began yesterday. At the demolition site, we worked on tearing down the foundation. This involved some handiwork with the sledgehammer and a series of assembly lines to carry the cement blocks to the dumpster. At the flooring site, we completed two rooms of flooring and baseboard and have one more to go--if we maintain the same pace, the workers at both sites should be finished by tomorrow afternoon and we can see what else is in store for us!
Everyone has been working hard and, although we finish each day tired (and with bug bites abounding), spirits are high. Through our work during the day and our fellowship with one another, we are using this time to reflect on the meaning behind mission and what implications it holds for us. Bearing this in mind, we can't wait to see what the rest of the trip brings.
