We're here! After a long trip--being at church at 3 am, waiting at the airport to leave at 5:30am, a flight to Houston and then Gulfport/Biloxi--our group finally made it here to Gulfport, Mississippi.
When we arrived the weather was actually very mild for Mississippi, in the mid-80s with moderate and very bearable humidity. We were informed that this was a rare treat, so we enjoyed it while we could and we can expect much more intense conditions as our trip progresses.
This evening we settled into the Grace First Mission House and purchased some of the food and supplies we'll need for our 10 day stay here. We also met the site manager, Bruce Byers, who introduced us to some of the work we will be doing tomorrow, including flooring and demolition. We are a little tired from a long day of travel, but we're also excited to begin our service here.
